Why are facial injections for wrinkles effective?
Hyaluronic acid (HA) occurs naturally in our body, especially in connective tissue found in the lips, cheeks, nasolabial folds, and mouth. It plays a supportive role in nourishing the collagen and water found in our skin, giving it that plump, youthful appearance. However, aging causes a constant decrease in hyaluronic acid, leading to a cellular breakdown. As our facial skin runs short of HA, tissue cells can no longer hold enough collagen and water, leading to skin elasticity loss. Like Restylane, dermal fillers can temporarily add more hyaluronic acid back into the skin to add fullness and volume, reducing the visible signs of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.
What is Restylane?
Restylane is a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler used to plump up the skin and temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It is a customizable, synthetic version of the body's natural hyaluronic acid, helping patients in the greater Jacksonville, FL area correct facial wrinkles and folds. It is also the first and only FDA-approved dermal filler that can add natural-looking volume to the hands and face for a smoother, more youthful appearance. The skin care experts at Dermatology Southeast provide a variety of Restylane products, including:
- Restylane Kysse to add volume and reshape the lips
- Restylane Defyne to reduce deep laugh lines around the mouth
- Restylane Refyne to treat moderate laugh lines around the mouth
- Restylane Lyft to add volume and lift the skin on the cheeks and hands
What are the differences between Restylane compared to JUVÉDERM?
JUVÉDERM® and Restylane are both hyaluronic acid-containing dermal fillers used to restore volume and plump up the skin. Serums and topical creams can't restore lost volume to the skin's surface, but temporary fillers can achieve this goal. They can even stimulate the body to naturally increase HA and collagen production, which helps men and women defy the aging process. Both Restylane and JUVÉDERM are considered outpatient procedures and can even be performed over a person's lunch hour. While both dermal fillers have the same basic ingredients, there are some differences in cost and usage. Restylane generally costs less but takes a few days longer to work, lasting about 9 – 10 months. JUVÉDERM results are more instant and can last about a year, in some cases, even longer.
Both Restylane and JUVÉDERM are effective at fighting the signs of facial aging and revealing a younger-looking you. With either one, follow-up facial injections for wrinkles will be necessary to maintain any results. During an initial consultation at Dermatology Southeast, one of our experienced, qualified experts will thoroughly evaluate any concerns to determine which injectable, or combination of both, will be the best option to achieve your aesthetic goals.
