Regardless of the technology used (Smartlipo or BeautiFill), laser liposuction is an outpatient procedure that we perform on-site at our office in Jacksonville, FL. Although less invasive than conventional liposuction, laser lipo still requires the use of a cannula to extract fat. At the start of your procedure, Dr. Pentel will make a tiny incision so she can insert the cannula to liquefy and suction fat tissue. Once the fat cells have been removed, Dr. Pentel will close the incision. Depending on the size and how many areas are being treated, your surgery can take 1 – 3 hours. 

Thanks to advanced laser technology, the downtime following laser lipo is less intensive and faster than the post-op recovery of traditional liposuction surgery. You may experience some discomfort, swelling, and bruising, but these symptoms are normal and will dissipate over the next few weeks. Noticeable results usually occur around 4 – 6 weeks following surgery, but it can take up to several months before your new body contour settles.
